Labor

• Globalization has brought the issue of labor to the forefront of politics. One of the effects of globalization has been the outsourcing of many jobs to foreign countries because of reduced costs of labor. This has caused the loss of many American jobs, which has translated into a hot political issue.
  
  

Domestic Politics

• Domestic politics become very constrained by globalization. In today's interconnected world, political decisions that are made in Michigan may be a result of something that happens in China. The problem with this is that it complicates the political system even further, and causes the domestic electorate to become even more skeptical of the political process.
  
  

Democracy

• Globalization also poses a threat to democratic principles. People in developing countries are becoming less interested in democratic guarantees, such as freedom of speech and religion, and more concerned with having access to free markets. They are willing to sacrifice the former for the latter.
  
  

The Nation-State

• Globalization has greatly reduced the power of the nation-state while giving power to the invisible hand of the market and the institutions that are supposed to watch over these markets. Regulations on trade and commerce have steadily been declining, which translates to less sovereignty for nation-states.
  
  

New Political Viewpoints

• As globalization chips away at nations' boundaries and threatens employment and the flow of capital, people are turning to government for new answers. They want to be protected from outsourcing and lower wages, while at the same time wanting access to unlimited amounts of capital. This has proved extremely difficult for governments, and people are becoming harder to please.
