    • 1). Type your list in a column or row. Give each item on the list its own cell.

    • 2). Click on the cell you want to have your drop-down box.

    • 3). Click "Data" then "Data Validation."

    • 4). Click the "Settings" tab.

    • 5). Select "List" from the "Allow" box.

    • 6). Click on the "Source" box and highlight your list.

    • 7). Check the box next to "In-cell dropdown."

    • 8). Check the "Ignore blank" in the blank box or leave it empty. If you select the box, then you can have an empty drop-down box with nothing in it. If you do not select the box, then Excel will always have something in the drop-down box.

    • 9). Click "OK."
