Dobermans are special dogs! They are stunning to look at, extremely intelligent, loyal and even quite emotional.
Just because they have a tough exterior does not mean that these dogs cannot get their feelings hurt.
Dobermans are Impossible to Train MYTH: Dobermans are bred to be highly trainable, they just have to respect you enough to pay attention to what you are are teaching.
Many people assume that they are impossible to train because they are naturally aggressive but that is simply not the case.
They may be a bit challenging when they are young because they are so independent but as long as long as you are consistent with training they mature into very obedient dogs.
Dobermans are Pushy and Stubborn FACT: These are one of the few dogs that have been bred to be the alpha dog.
Add that trait with their brilliant mind and you get a dog that will try to push you around and test you.
However, if you do your job properly and become the leader, your Doberman will respect you and let you be in charge.
That is why these are not a good breed for the first time dog owner, the Doberman will certainly end up ruling the house which is not ideal.
All Dobermans Turn on Their Owners MYTH: Although a Doberman is more than capable of turning on his owner, he will rarely do so without a good reason.
If a Doberman is treated with respect and trained properly, he will never be fearful and feel as though he has to attack.
Dobermans are sensitive and when they are yelled at, neglected or abused, they will turn because they have a good reason to.
Dobermans are Prone to Bite FACT: Although this statement is one of the Doberman facts, they generally have a reason to bite when they actually do.
Just because they are prone to doing something does not mean that they necessarily will do it.
Most occurrences of a Doberman biting are due to poor socialization or the dog doing his job and protecting his owner.
However, there are also Dobermans that have not been taught at a young age that play biting is unacceptable which causes a huge problem in adults.
The important thing to understand is that Dobermans are not a viscous breed, they just require the right kind of person and a capable leader to mold them into well-behaved pets.
