How to Make an Enzyme to Remove Cat Urine From Carpet
- 1). Test an inconspicuous area of your carpet for colorfastness. Apply a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to an unseen portion of your carpet. Wait five to 10 minutes to observe whether or not the peroxide changes the color of your carpet.
- 2). Combine one part water and one part white vinegar in a bucket or spray bottle. This is the pretreatment enzyme. Apply this to the affected area and allow to dry before using the scrubbing enzyme.
- 3). Combine 1 tsp. of liquid dish detergent with every 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution you mix for a scrubbing enzyme. Use hand dish detergent, not a liquid designed for a dishwasher.
- 4). Sprinkle a handful of baking soda over the affected area.
- 5). Spray or drizzle the scrubbing enzyme on top of the baking soda. Use a scrub brush or gloved fingers to work the enzyme into your carpet. Allow the area to dry and vacuum it clean.
