How to Soak Garlic Before Planting
- 1). Separate the bulbs of the garlic into cloves. Each clove can be planted to grow garlic. You can separate the bulb with your fingers carefully.
- 2). Place the garlic cloves into a 3-gallon bucket or larger so that you can stir all the items. Add 1 gallon of warm water, 1 tbsp. of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 1 tbsp. of liquid seaweed. Mix the contents until the baking soda dissolves.
- 3). Allow the garlic cloves to soak overnight in the mixture.
- 4). Remove the garlic cloves with a slotted spoon. Remove any loose skin from the cloves. Place them off to the side in a bowl.
- 5). Soak the garlic cloves in rubbing alcohol. The cloves need to be completely submerged in the rubbing alcohol only three to four minutes. Plant the garlic cloves immediately after they soak.
