How to Paint Counter Tops & Refrigerators

3

    Refrigerators

    • 1). Sand down the entire surface of your refrigerator so that the paint will adhere better. You're not trying to remove the edges or sand much away, just give the refrigerator a rigid surface so the material will take the paint better.

    • 2). Add rust primer to any spots of your refrigerator that had rust. Allow the rust primer to properly dry before adding a coat of primer to the appliance. The primer will improve the quality of the paint job you're about to apply and will also help the color appear rich and full with fewer coats of paint.

    • 3). Paint the entire fridge with the first coat of paint that contains urethane-reinforced enamel, which is often found in any melamine paint. Once the coat dries, apply a second and third coat to ensure a rich color and a strong seal that will last through the use of cleaners and disinfectants.

    Countertops

    • 1). Sand down the counter if it's made out of wood or a material that you can properly sand without leaving visible scratch marks or scuffs.

    • 2). Apply a coat of primer to the surface of the countertop and allow the primer to dry.

    • 3). Apply the first coat of paint to the counter just like you did with the refrigerator. Once the first coat dries, add multiple coats until you achieve the color you desire.
