My cats love most catnip toys, so I was sure they'd enjoy the Kitten Mitten, a toy stuffed with 100 percent organic nip, but I had no idea that they would act like those innocent looking mittens were stuffed with kitty crack!

My two youngest cats, SheiKra and Farquaad, each claimed a Kitten Mitten and didn't release their "prizes" until the poor toys were mangled and soaked with cat spit.

It's a great toy to perk up your indoor cats and bring out their wild instincts.

Potent Catnip

The trick with cat toys is finding one that is stuffed with potent catnip. You can't always judge by looks. It's more of a hit or miss process of buying various toys until you find one your cats really love. I know a toy is a hit when the cats guard it jealously, roll on it, and bat it in the air as though it's real prey.

The Kitten Mitten looks like an innocent toy. Its description says it's stuffed with organic catnip, and it's made from organic fleece and cotton. It's a good general toy and also a perfect option for feline owners who like "green" products like recycled cat litters and live organic cat greens.

I've purchased other organic nip toys before, with mixed results. This time, my cats were attentive as soon as I opened the package, and the catnip must be very potent because SheiKra and Farquaad were all over their Kitten Mittens as soon as I handed them out.

Durable Toy

My cats tend to destroy catnip toys they really, really like.

They chew, tear, and generally rip their favorites apart. I was amazed at how well the Kitten Mittens held up to their vicious feline abuse. They tossed, carried, chewed, clawed, and sucked the toys, and although their poor Kitty Mittens looked rather battered by the time they lost interest, they were still in one piece.

A Special Treat

The Kitten Mitten is one of those toys I use as a special treat. I have certain toys, like my laser pointer and squeaky mouse that are out for everyday playtime, but Kitty Mittens are for those occasions when I really want to drive the cats wild. I just have limit this toy, as I fear I'd have to put them in rehab if they got too much of that extra-strong organic nip.
