How to Set BIOS for Two Hard Drives
- 1). Shut down the computer and power it on again. Wait for the initial boot screen to display and tap the "Delete," "F1" or "F2" keys (depends on computer model) a few times. The BIOS setup screen appears.
- 2). Enter the BIOS password if prompted to do so and press the "Enter" key.
- 3). Press the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate to the "Primary CMOS Setup" or "Standard CMOS Setup" and press the "Enter" key. On many computers, the initial BIOS display screen is the "Primary" or "Basic" screen you need to access to set up the hard drives in the computer.
- 4). Press the down-arrow key to move to the "Primary Master" field under the "Hard Disk" heading. Press the "Enter" key to have the BIOS automatically detect and configure the system's primary hard disk.
- 5). Move the cursor to the "Primary Slave" field and press the "Enter" key. Again, the BIOS detects and configures the hard drive if one is present. Repeat the process for the "Secondary Master" and "Secondary Slave" fields.
- 6). Press the "F10" key to save the new BIOS settings and exit the setup utility. The computer will restart. Allow the computer to boot normally.
