Oozles and Foozles
Definition:
Oozles and Foozles is a golf side bet in which "oozles" are good and "foozles" are bad. Oozles and Foozles is usually played only on par-3 holes, and can be played a couple different ways:
Version 1
On par-3 holes, identify the golfer who is closest to the pin (must be on the green) after the tee balls. That golfer can win the "oozle," which is worth one betting unit (decide how much each unit is worth before starting the round, of course), by holing out in two or fewer putts.
However, if that golfer 3-putts, he's stuck with the "foozle," which is the loss of one betting unit.
If no golfers in the group hit the green off the tee, then the oozles and foozles carry over to the next par-3, making that next hole more valuable.
Version 2
In the second version, the oozle is won by the golfer who is closest to the pin on a par-3 hole (without requiring him or her to hole out in two or fewer putts). However, if that golfer 3-putts, he forfeits the oozle and is hit with the foozle.
Variations
While Oozles and Foozles is usually played on par-3 holes, there's nothing stopping you from playing it on all holes, if that's what you prefer. In that case, oozles can only be earned when you reach a green in regulation.
Oozles and Foozles is a game that fits well within the larger betting game of Dots or Garbage.
