How to Draw Anime Like "Sailor Moon"
- 1). Draw an oval for the anime girl's head. The bottom of the oval should come to a point at the chin.
- 2). Add a neck and shoulders. Draw two vertical lines from the bottom of the head to create the neck. Connect the right line to a diagonal line that forms an angle of about 115 degrees. Extend this line past the right side of the head. This creates the right shoulder. Draw a similar line on the other side of the neck to create the left shoulder.
- 3). Draw the torso by creating a rounded curve for the chest that flows into a slightly narrower waist. Draw rounded hips.
- 4). Create a long line that extends from the right side of the hips to the ground to form the basis for the right leg. This line should end to the right of the hip so that it looks as if the character has her feet in a wide stance. Draw another line on the opposite side.
- 5). Fill in the right leg by drawing another line parallel to the line on the right. This line should create a thin leg that is about 2/3 the width of the head and should be on the inside of the leg. Fill in the left leg by drawing a similar line. Add boots at the bottom of the leg. These boots have a slightly pointy foot and reach just above the knee.
- 6). Draw the Sailor Moon bow. This large bow sits in the middle of the chest and extends the entire width of the chest. Draw the top of the Sailor Moon uniform by drawing a diagonal line from the right side of the bow to the edge of the shoulder. Draw a symmetrical line on the other side. Place your pencil at the right side on the neck, where the neck meets the shoulders, and draw a curved line to the bow. Draw a similar line on the other side. This finishes the sailor fuku, the blue and red top of the schoolgirl uniform.
- 7). Finish the uniform by drawing a vertical line just to the right of the shoulder. Draw another line on the left shoulder. Draw a V at the bottom of the uniform, so that the edges of the V are parallel to the waist and the bottom of the V is parallel to the hips. Draw a diagonal line from the top of the right-side of the V to create the right-side of the skirt. Draw another line on the left-side of the V and connect these two lines with a curved line. The Sailor Moon skirt is short and extends just past the crotch of the character.
- 8). Draw the arms of the character. The traditional Sailor Moon pose has the character's right arm in front of her eye in a sideways peace sign and the character's left arm resting on her hip. Add long gloves to the arm by drawing a thick band just above the elbow.
- 9). Add the character's eyes. Draw a short curved line at the top of the right eye. Draw a short, almost horizontal line at the right corner of the eye. This line should be far below the first line, about twice as low as you would expect for a human eye. It should be about 1/3 the width of the top line. Place your pen on the left side of the bottom line and draw a curved line to the top of the eye. Add an oval pupil that rests of the top-right of the eye and a shine bubble that rests in the bottom-left corner of the eye. Add two eyelashes on the right of the eye. Repeat this process on the left side to add an additional eye.

Draw a triangular nose just below the eyes and a small, curved mouth just below the nose. - 11
Add short, pointy bangs that extend to the tops of the eyes. Draw the long pigtails that flow past the character's hips. At the top of the pigtails, draw the buns. There is one bun above each eye. These buns are circles, and they are about as tall as the eyes.
