How to Hang Pictures on a Wall
- 1). Decide where you want your picture to be. Larger pictures look best on larger walls and small pictures look better either grouped with other pictures or decorations or on a smaller wall. This is especially important if you want the picture or art to be the focal point of the wall.
- 2). Hang your pictures at eye level. Not the upper edge or lowers edge but the center of the picture, this draws the eye. Extra large pieces of art look best over other large features in the room like fireplaces or sofas.
- 3). To hang your picture in the right spot the first time, trace and cut out a paper pattern of your picture or painting then tape this on the wall to see where you want it hung. Lightly mark off the spot with a pencil before you remove the paper then attach your picture with a wall hanging hook.
- 4). Deciding how to hang a group of pictures is really up to your personal tastes. You can stagger them down a stairway, frame a larger picture with small ones or have an eclectic collage of family photos. To get the pattern of your collage perfect, lay all the pictures on the floor and rearrange them until you like what you see. You can cut out paper patterns for each picture again and find the perfect wall area to hang them.
