Support Group Guidelines
- Support groups maintain strict confidentiality about their members and the content shared during meetings. It's important to remember: "What is said here, stays here."
- Everyone is encouraged to share his or her stories with the group. Keep your contributions to 3-5 minutes to ensure that all members have a chance to speak.
- Avoid offering advice or trying to fix anything. Be there to listen and support the other members without interference or judgment.
- Respect the experiences of others. Feelings are neither right nor wrong and listening to others is the best support you can provide.
- Be considerate by eliminating side conversations and staying focused on the topic at hand. All contributions are important to the group.
- Show respect for the process by following these guidelines for each meeting and arriving on time.
