How to Choose a Better Domain Name

19
If you want to be an affiliate marketer, you need to get a domain name for the product you are marketing.
You can forward your unique name to your affiliate-coded sales page and save yourself having to make a webpage.
It has many other benefits as well but we don't need to cover those yet.
There are some important rules when selecting a domain name for advertising.
The first rule is to go with a.
com extension.
This is because.
com is the default setting on most browsers and it sticks in people's minds.
Many people will just type in the name of a site and let the browser add the extension.
You don't want to lose sales to a.
com if you have.
info or.
net extension, do you? The second rule in choosing a domain name is, do not use hyphens.
I remember a discussion among some friends.
One of them was confused between a dash and a hyphen.
He wasn't sure which he was supposed to use, after getting a web address over the phone.
You do not want your potential customers to have any confusion over your web site address.
You want them to be able to remember your address without any extra effort.
The third rule is the never use numbers.
It has become popular to use numbers in domain names because it is harder to think of a unique name that is not already in use, especially if you are promoting a popular product.
Numbers can create confusion for your potential customers, so do not use numbers in your domain name.
One reason you want no confusion over your domain name is that not all of your customers will find you from emails or other websites.
Some people will pass on your domain name to their friends, in casual conversations or over the phone.
You may try other types of advertising, like magazines or newspapers, where potential customers are not by their computers and they have to remember your address.
If you have a memorable domain name they are more likely to be able to find you later, when they are on their computer.
  I go to GoDaddy.
com for my domain names and follow their easy instructions to forward my selected name to my affiliate sales page.
Go Daddy has their options set up clearly but as I don't use other services I would like to warn you to be careful when forwarding, that you do not select mask domains.
You never want to mask a domain that has your affiliate link because masking will remove your link and you will not be credited with the sale.
