Acne - The Psychological and Physiological Factors Affecting Young Adults

3
Many people say that adolescence to early adulthood is the most enjoyable and exciting time in the growth and development of an individual.
Exposure and acceptance in society is inevitable, therefore, one must look his best at all times.
But some young adults experience it differently.
Why? Because these are the people who, in one way or another, have acne on their faces, necks, chests and/or shoulders.
They feel ugly, dirty and cannot endure the harassment, greasy faces and name callings during social activities.
In severe cases, this situation can lead to trauma.
Acne or pimples is most common among teenagers in puberty.
This is the period when the body begins to produce hormones that causes the oil glands in the skin to be over-active.
And, when the extra oil begins to combine with the dead skin cell (normally shed by the skin), it causes the tiny hair follicles to clog up.
Once the pores are blocked, bacteria develop and grow.
Hence, the skin becomes irritated and acne sets in.
The inflammation can either be small or large, tender or hard, soft or dull.
The colors may also be in red, black or white on the skin.
Bear in mind that over reaction to acne may lead to infection, lesions and scarring which could be permanent.
Excessive scrubbing or even the use of too harsh scrubbing tool can do this.
Washing of face more than two times a day would also have negative side effects.
It is recommended that washing of the face be done in the morning and in the evening before going to sleep.
The selection of cleansers to use is, likewise, important and largely dictated to the gravity of acne and the skin condition, whether oily or dry.
When acne condition is severe, always consult a reliable dermatologist.
