How to Build a Raised Dog Bowl Feeder
- 1). Purchase two regular dog food bowls of the same size that have a lipped rim. Measure the diameter of the bowls. Add 6 inches to this measurement. This is how long the crate needs to be. Add 4 inches to the measurement, and that is the necessary depth of the crate.
- 2). Select a wooden crate with slats that are flush against each other. Turn the crate upside down and place four protective furniture feet on the bottom: one on each corner. These will protect your floors from scratches from the crate.
- 3). Turn the crate upright and set it on a flat surface. Place the bowls on the top of the crate and trace around the bottom of the bowls with a pencil. Use a jigsaw to cut out the circles you traced. Pour coarse gravel into one of the holes until you fill the bottom 3 to 4 inches of the crate. The added weight will keep the dog from pushing the raised bowls around your room.
- 4). Fill one bowl with dog food and one with water.
