3
If you do a quick Google search on the internet you will find a ton of sites where you can list your websites for sale.
Website Flipping has become the new "fad" of the last 18 months.
For those who are new to flipping websites I would recommend that you stick to a few tried and true sites for making your first flips.
In this article I am going to list 6 sites that you can use to sell your websites.
I recommend trying out 2 or 3 just to get a feel for the different sites, and to find out which one is right for you.
SitePoint.
com
SitePoint.
com is the de facto number one site for flipping websites right now.
Thousands and thousands of potential buyers and sellers can be found at the SitePoint marketplace.
SitePoint has been online since 1999.
The SitePoint MarketPlace has been operational since 2005.
SitePoint is ranked as the #1 source for buying and selling websites.
The site boast over $4 million dollars worth of sites being posted for sale every month in the marketplace.
If you want to get your site sold then SitePoint is a good place to start.
The SitePoint buyers are a little more tech savvy than some of the buyers at other sites so beware, and sell your good stuff here.
In the SitePoint marketplace you can sell premium websites, established websites, startup websites, and domain names.
There are also several other resources for sale in the marketplace that you may find useful such as link exchanges and scripts.
Premium websites must have a reserve of at least $10,000.
Posting a premium site for sale will cost you at least $40.
Established Web Sites must be at least 30 days old.
Posting an established website will cost you at least $20.
Startup websites are sites that are less than 30 days old and have zero or very little revenue.
Startup websites can be posted for $10.
All postings are initially for 30 days or less.
The seller can set the time limit for the posting.
eBay.
com
eBay.
com is a huge marketplace for buyers and sellers of websites.
Buyers on eBay are generally not the most tech savvy people overall.
You will get a lot of buyers who will really not understand exactly what they are buying, so you will have to have a certain amount of patience.
When selling on eBay it is best to explain as much about the site as you can up front on the auction page so that the buyer has a very clear idea of what they are buying.
This works in your favor too, because well informed buyers are more likely to make a purchase.
Your eBay fees can be as little as a few dollars or as much as $50 depending on exactly what features you choose for your auction listing.
Auction listing periods can be 1 - 10 days.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the eBay rules and regulations because these days they seem to change constantly, and not for the benefit of the seller.
DigitalPoint.
com
The forums at DigitalPoint.
com are alive with activity.
Their marketplace is very active with website buyers and sellers.
DigitalPoint is what I would consider part of the wild wild west of website selling.
The participants in the forums can be harsh and a little on the shady side.
It does not cost anything to post a site for sale in DP.
I generally find that they quicker you can sell your site in DP the better.
Site auctions are posted as forum threads.
If your site does not sell within about 3 days it probably will not sell, because your thread will be so far off the first page no one will find it.
NamePros.
com
NamePros.
com is a forum similar to DigitalPoint.
com.
It will cost you nothing to post your site for sale in NamePros forum.
It is a viable alternative to sites that require fees for posting.
WebsiteBroker.
com
WebsiteBroker.
com has been online since 1997.
Their website has a nice inviting UI.
You will find thousands of buyers and sellers on their site looking for deals.
They have two types of listings.
You can list your site as a premiere site for $29.
95 or as a standard site for $9.
95.
Both listings will last for 90 days.
The premiere listings receive the bulk of the traffic, hence the higher price point.
These are just a few of the many places that you can buy and sell websites.
I encourage you to do your own research into each of the sites that I have mentioned in this article and decide which one is best for your needs.
