18
There is so much to deal with, when someone you love dies.
It may feel as though your whole world and life ended when theirs did.
The grief, at times unexpected, threatens to swallow you whole.
Leaving you wondering how your life will ever be the same.
The answer of course is, that it won't!How could it? Whoever your loved one was and however they died.
They took with them a part of you.
They took your love.
That part of you that was and is emotionally attached to them.
Which is why losing them was such a wrench.
That you can't help but mourn them.
But you took something from them too, that in time you make your own.
You will often hear people talking about the gap that's left in their lives following the demise of someone they loved.
That's because there really is a huge gap left by their loss.
So huge that you question how you'll ever begin to fill the void.
But you see, that's where time and choice come into it.
How do you choose to spend the rest of your life? What can you take from having shared their life; or as a result of their loss, to inspire you? How do you want or plan to make your life different and better than what it was before? Is there a cause or an issue that you have developed an all consuming passion about? I really hope you don't mind me being direct with you.
Because I'm going to be! It does not matter how old you are.
You need to view your loved ones death as a wake up call, to you personally.
You, like all of us have a certain time on this earth.
Your time is going to pass anyway and it's going to be experienced as passing ever more swiftly as you get older.
So why not commit yourself to a cause that is worthy of you and your loved one.
It doesn't matter what it is, or who it involves, as long as it provides you with a reason to live and give the best of yourself to it and your life.
As long as it provides the essence to help adequately fill the vacuum left by the one who sadly departed.
You see, there will come a day for all of us when all we can do is ponder on our lives and what we made of them.
On that day would you like your life to filled with regrets, or overflowing with wondrous memories and achievements? The choice, really is, all yours! Life is precious, so make the most of it.
Fill it with things that make you happy and joyful to be alive.
