How to Shoot Better Three-Pointers
- 1). Avoid changing your shooting form from behind the three-point line. When a player attempts to shoot a ball from further than their muscles are comfortable shooting from, they tend to change their shooting form to compensate for the increased distance. To address this problem, shoot at least half of the shots you take on a daily basis from within five feet of the net using perfect form. This muscle memory will increase the strength of your shooting muscles and make taking longer shots easier.
- 2). Shoot with a higher arc on your shot. Shooting with a higher arc has a number of benefits to both yourself and your team. A higher arc will result in a higher shooting percentage (i.e. more shots going into the net) and will also cause the rebound to bounce out further if the shot is missed and increase the possibility that a teammate will grab it.
- 3). Practice your three-point shot every day. As with anything you do, practicing something will only make you better in the long run. If you strive to be an elite player, you should shoot and make about 500 shots per day. While it may take a while for improvement to be seen, you will eventually shoot better and increase your three-point shooting percentage.
