How to Remove Scratches From Plastic Lens Glasses

33
    • 1). Clean your lenses with a mild dish soap and water. Wet the lenses, apply a few drops of soap, and rub in a circular motion with your fingers on each lens. Rinse with clear water.

    • 2). Wipe the lenses dry with a soft cotton towel that does not contain fabric softener. An old, clean diaper is ideal. Do not use paper towels or toilet paper as the wood fiber in them can scratch your lenses.

    • 3). Use a product like Band-Aid's Single-Step Liquid Bandage. Apply the liquid bandage to the lenses and let dry. This may fill in your minor scratches and works as a temporary fix, but the bandage will need to be reapplied if lenses get wet.

    • 4). Rub wet cigarette ashes gently into clean lenses. Gently rewash lenses and check scratches. If necessary, repeat several times to fill in scratches.

    • 5). Remove coatings. Many times the scratches on lenses are just in the coating, and by taking the coating off, you eliminate scratches. Apply Armour Etch, which can be found at craft stores, carefully and liberally to the lens. Wait 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Wash and dry with a soft cloth.
