How to Move Without Taking Insects With You
- 1). Wash old or stored clothes with the hottest setting possible and pack these in plastic bins rather than cardboard boxes. Washing clothes can kill spiders or bugs that hide inside fabric. Place a few Neem leaves in these bins to ward off any new spiders who try to make their home in the bin.
- 2). Don't combine items in the garage and attic with other things from your house. Inspect each item one-by-one in the garage or attic before packing in a plastic bin. Place Neem leaves in these bins also. Keep all items that go in the garage or attic at the new house stored in plastic bins in the garage.
- 3). Spray the interior border of the garage with bug spray to kill off any extra bugs that may linger.
- 4). Throw away old junk and get rid of anything that has been infested with bugs such as piles of wood in your backyard. Hire someone to haul this material off to the dump for you. Bugs in the backyard can quickly make their way into your home if an infestation is not dealt with.
- 5). Purchase bed bug mattress covers and place these on the beds before moving into the new home.
- 6). Bug bomb the entire house with your stuff inside if you want to make sure that all the bugs have died. This step is not always necessary, but you may want to consider it if you have a major infestation.
