How to Add Memory to an Alienware Laptop
- 1). Shut down the computer. Remove all cables and peripheral devices from the computer, including PC cards.
- 2). Remove the battery.
- 3). Place the laptop upside down on a towel to protect the laptop cover from receiving any scratches during installation.
- 4). Attach the ESD strap before opening the computer. Read the ESD manufacturer's instructions for that specific strap. Wireless ESD straps should be donned 15 minutes before working with computer equipment.
- 5). Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove any screws that hold the memory bay cover in place.
- 6). Insert the memory module by aligning the notch at the bottom of the module with the crossbar in the connector. Place the module into the connector at a 45-degree angle. With the module properly seated in the socket, gently but firmly push the module in and down until you hear it click into place.
- 7). Replace the cover, reconnect all wires and external peripherals and PC cards, and turn on the computer.
