How to Make a Hemp Twirl Bracelet

14
    • 1). Cut two pieces of hemp cord. The Jewelry Making Guide website suggests cutting a 90-inch (7.5-foot) length to use for the knotting cords and a 30-inch (2.5-foot) length to use for the base strands.

    • 2). Fold the two hemp cords in half, creating a loop at one end and tails at the other.

    • 3). Make an overhand knot at the top of the cords. Leave enough room in your loop to slip your end knot through easily. This loop will be what holds your finished piece together.

    • 4). Secure your piece by taping the top loop to a flat surface or using a hook to hold it in place.

    • 5). Keep the two shorter cords (base strands) together while placing the outer (knotting) cords to the side. Loosely secure the base strands with tape so that you can easily work around them without confusing the base strands and the knotting cords.

    • 6). Create a semicircle shape with the left knottig cord, crossing it over the top of the two base strands, leaving the tail end on the right side of your piece (see Reference #1).

    • 7). Create a semicircle shape with the right knotting cord, going under the left knotting cord and the two base strands.

    • 8). Pull the two knotting cords tightly to create your first knot.

    • 9). Repeat the above semicircle process to create the twirl design.

Make a final overhand knot and cut off any loose ends. Slide the end knot through the top loop to complete your piece.
