Download the Java Runtime Environment

• 1). Open a Mozilla browser window and then navigate to the home page of the Java website (see Resources).
  
  
• 2). Click the "Free Java Download" button.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Agree and Start Free Download" button. Save the installer program to your desktop when prompted.
  
  

Install the Java Runtime Environment

• 1). Close all open browser windows.
  
  
• 2). Navigate to your desktop and then double-click the icon of the installer program you downloaded previously.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Install" button to confirm your acceptance of the software's license terms.
  
  
• 4). Check the box labeled "Install the Yahoo! Toolbar" if you want to install it alongside the Java Runtime Environment. This add-on is optional and does not affect the functionality of the JRE or the Java browser plug-in.
  
  
• 5). Click "Next" to install the updated version of the JRE and Java browser plug-in on your computer.
