Enjoy The Comfort Ride With Cycling Padded Shorts

Cycling is an art where you reach new heights of expertise every day. Do you remember the first day when you continuously cycled three miles to reach your office or the first time when you realized that cycling with padded shorts is far more comfortable than cycling with jeans? In fact once you get the taste of comfort while cycling with padded shorts, you will love to wear the tight fitting Lycra without giving a second thought to what people around you will think. A pair of good cycling shorts is a vital element for a comfortable ride, especially for any ride ranging for more than two hours.

Over many years of my cycling life, I have tried several types of padded shorts. I am glad to see that the padded shorts have undergone a huge transformation. From bulky and ugly looking padded shorts, they have come a long way to become the ultra-slim and trendy padded shorts. The best thing is now you can wear the padded shorts under your regular trouser and nobody will even notice them.

Given below are few tips on choosing and maintenance of padded shorts:
You will find a pair of padded shorts comfortable only when you are used to cycling. Someone, who is cycling for the first time will not feel comfortable on the seat, no matter how good the shorts are. If you are used to cycling, you develop a tolerance level over time. Thus, padded shorts act as a catalyst to enhance this tolerance.
Many people prefer bibbed shorts over the elastic ones. They feel that the bibbed shorts are comfortable around the waist and stay at their position in spite of all the movement. Some elastic shorts also stick to waist but again they are so tight that it becomes uncomfortable for some people.
Keep the shorts clean. Of course this goes without saying that you need to keep the padded shorts clean. Wash them on regular intervals, especially when you have cycled for a long time. This is because during long hours of cycling the padded shorts may have been exposed to a lot of dirt and sweat and must be cleaned for hygiene reasons.
Avoid using extremely hot water for washing the shorts. Water in very high temperatures may damage the Lycra or make the shorts out of proportion.

A single pair of padded shorts can last really long given that they are used with care and maintained properly.
