Sydney Daytrips
While there are a host of attractions for the Sydney visitor within the metropolitan area, there is often a need to get out into the quieter environs of country areas, mountains, caves, coastal plains, vineyards, and the much celebrated Australian bush.
Sydney daytrips should not be overlooked.
With the Pacific in the east, daytrips to consider are traveling north to the coastal towns of Terrigal and The Entrance, northwest to wine country in the Hunter Valley, west to the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves, south to Kiama and Jervis Bay, southwest to Mittagong and Bowral and perhaps on to Canberra, the nation's capital, and thence to Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains.
If you wanted to combine fishing with daytrips, New South Wales's fishing coast is not much farther south.
Rent or borrow a car
The Sydney visitor will most likely be able to join bus tours to any of these places by checking with the hotel. The alternative is to rent or borrow a car and drive.
Any of these areas are daytrip destinations and should be able to be reached within half a day. So if one starts early enough, one should be able to return to Sydney in the evening from even the farthest of them. However, it is always a good idea to break travel with an overnight stay.
