• Each holiday season, Cleveland, Ohio, hosts the Winterfest Celebration in the Public Square. The free event begins on Thanksgiving weekend and carries through until New Year's. Winterfest offers live holiday entertainment, fireworks and the lighting of the city's massive Christmas tree. Visitors can also visit the home where the holiday movie, A Christmas Story, was filmed. The home is now a museum featuring tours, memorabilia from the film and a gift shop.

Dickens Victorian Village

• Cambridge is situated in eastern Ohio, about 80 miles east of Columbus. The town hosts the Dickens Victorian Village, an attraction which runs from early November until just after the New Year. Using mannequins and various decorations, the village features 74 scenes that depict Christmas in Victorian England. The village also offers a holiday light show at the Guernsey County Courthouse, a Christmas parade and a public art show highlighting local talent.

Clifton Mill

• Dating back to 1803, the Clifton Mill is in Clifton, Ohio, just 30 miles east of Dayton. During the Christmas season, the Mill features extravagant decorations, including more than 3.5 million holiday lights. The grounds also include a Santa Claus museum, a miniature Christmas village and an old-fashioned covered bridge with an accompanying light and music show. The Christmas decorations remain up from Thanksgiving until early January. Snacks, desserts and drinks sell at the Mill during this time as well.
