The subject of this article makes it sound like it is easy to quit smoking.  The unusual position I am in, as the writer, is that I am married to a smoker.  My wife has been smoking for approximately forty years.  When we met she smoked a pack a day.  Just after we got married she asked me if I wanted her to stop smoking.  I told her that was completely up to her.  I felt that way because I was a life long junk food junkie.  How could I justify asking her to quit smoking, when I had no intentions of giving up my addictions to the sugar in cupcakes or cookies, or the caffeine in soda.  I felt, erroneously, that they were both simply bad habits.  The problem with that line of thought was, they're were not bad habits.  They were, and are, destructive. 

Since this article is about quitting smoking, then I will explain how it really is easy to quit smoking.  My wife has make five attempts to quit smoking.  She has failed every attempt.  My wife is extremely intelligent and educated.  So, just how easy can quitting smoking be, if my wife is unable to stop?  The answer to that question is so simple, it is mind-boggling.  Corporations have created patches and pills, because society has concluded, also erroneously, that it is not easy to quit smoking.  I am here to prove to you how to quit smoking easily.  

Now you are mentally disputing my position.  I submit to you that all it takes is one word to prove how to quit smoking easily.  That word is 'attitude'.  Attitude is more powerful than anything on Earth.  It is the ultimate definable solution to all problems.  If your attitude is steadfast and dedicated, there is no problem you can't solve.  It is the ultimate example to mind over matter.  You are a smoker. You have been smoking for most of your adult life.  You are fully cognizant that it is deadly to you.  You may not get cancer, but you are shortening your life.  You are committing slow suicide.  Every time you make an earnest attempt to quit, you refrain from smoking for a few days, and then you can't take it anymore.  You simply cannot conceive the idea of how to quit smoking easily.  

But you make it hard.  Because deep down you are not committed enough.  You don't want to experience the physical hardship of nicotine withdraw.  There are those who claim that they quit 'cold turkey'.  What they had was commitment.  Those who fail cannot grasp the idea of how to quit smoking easily. But it is easy. All it takes is attitude.
