How to Use Excel Files

    • 1). Double click on your Excel file. This will open it in the Microsoft Office Excel program installed on your computer.

    • 2). View the information that is already contained in your Excel file. You can use the scroll bars (both horizontal and vertical) to view all of the cells that are currently in the document.

    • 3). Click on a cell if you want to change the data contained in it. You will then be able to use your keyboard to type new information directly into the cell.

    • 4). Use the toolbar at the top of the Microsoft Office Excel program window to add new information to your Excel file. You can paste information copied from other documents (using the "Paste" function), change the font style or format, as well as insert images, shapes, clip art and other types of multimedia elements into your document.

    • 5). Click on the "Office" button. This will bring up a drop-down menu allowing you to print out your Excel file (by using the "Print" function) or save changes you've made to your Excel file (using the "Save" function). You can also simply close the file if you do not want to save your changes and want it to revert to the state it was in before you opened it.
