Thinking on Ron Paul - The Candidate for President

21
The other day our Online Think Tank had a discussion on Ron Paul, who is running for President of the United States.
He is a libertarian for the most part in much of his thinking, but is running as a Republican.
One of his very staunch supporters sent me an email to discuss his candidacy and to stated that;
You know, I really like Ron Paul on some things, he is spot on, yet on other things, I think he takes it too far, and I see where he is coming from, a lot like Milton Friedman, who I have always respected.
Of course, abolishing the IRS sounds like something that people could go for, but in reality, government would have to pull back its spending, which is like trying to make popsicles in hell.
Ronald Reagan had some of Ron Paul's views and I know there is some history there with Ron Paul.
I side with Ron Paul on wanting to pay less Income Tax.
I have a problem with the way our income tax system works and how complicated it is and how this forces people to hire professional parasites, and decreases efficiency for small businesses and corporations and is ridiculous and too complex for citizens, it is disturbing to me.
The income tax issue is problematic, I did enjoy Steve Forbes' idea on the flat tax previously.
I do not support the idea of getting rid of the IRS or causing a mass hysteria to stop the IRS and/or telling people it is illegal.
When some of Ron Paul's supporters ask to stop the Federal Reserve, one has to question their solutions or attempts to undermine our currency, not that the currency does not already have its own problems.
Currently, I support my President and I fully trust Dick Cheney's expertise, whether or not anyone else cares to see the reality.
I am not for the complete and immediate withdrawing of troops from around the world including Iraq.
I am only upset with the "cost" for the Iraq issue, and not the premise or reason for being there.
It maybe unpopular to think as I do on this issue, but, nevertheless, that is my thinking.
Iraq solutions require internal controls which can only come when the people there choose to solve them, much the same as taking back your own streets with a "community grass-roots" Neighborhood Watch Program.
Then our troops we will not be needed and can re-position our forces elsewhere.
Ron Paul has some interesting things to say, let's here him out and discuss them.
Think on this, as it is a rather interesting grassroots play in the political arena.
