  Trinidad is a 185 square mile island just 7 miles northeast of Venezuela. The two countries are separated only by the Gulf of Paria. It's twin island, Tobago, lies just northeast of Trinidad and is a much more rural destination. Together, they make up the country of Trinidad and Tobago.
