How to Set a Jeep Upright
- 1). Turn off the motor and get everyone out of the Jeep. Make sure no one needs medical attention. Call any emergency services needed before ever attempting to right the vehicle back onto its wheels.
- 2). Tie a tow rope to the side of the frame of the Jeep farthest away from the direction you will be pulling it. If the Jeep is laying on its side, you will want to tie off to the middle of the frame on the side facing the sky, not the ground. If the Jeep is on its roof, tie off to the frame on the side furthest away from the towing truck.
- 3). Tie the other end of your tow rope to the tow hitch on the back of the full-sized truck or SUV. You will need one person driving the truck or SUV and as many able-bodied people as possible on the far side of the Jeep as you can find.
- 4). Have the driver of the truck get into the truck and the other people get into position on the far side of the Jeep and prepare to help guide the Jeep back over onto its wheels. As the truck starts to move forward very slowly, the rope should tighten and begin to exert pressure on the Jeep. Helpers should grip the Jeep by the roll bars and push up on it slightly as it is being pulled. The combined pressure of the truck pulling and people pushing should ease it back onto its wheels. It may take several tries and minor modifications to get the Jeep back upright, especially in uneven terrain.
