Florida Building Code for a Swimming Pool Slope
- When resurfacing a public swimming pool, according to Florida State Code requirements Chapter 64 E-9, "a slope transition must have a 2- to 6-inch-wide dark contrasting tile marking across the bottom and must extend up both sides of the pool at the transition point."
- New pools must adhere to the same code requirements as those that are resurfaced. Slopes must be clearly marked so that swimmers can easily identify them. Florida building code states that the color should be "Munsell Color Value from zero to four." Safety lines must be installed to mark transitions.
- Building codes in Florida also require that the pool floor have no more than a 45-degree slope. Additionally, the code requires that the floor slope be uniform. Multiple levels are not allowed. Zero-depth entry pools have a gradual and steadily sloping floor.
