How to Start a Gas Yard Master Weed Eater
- 1). Empty any gas still in the tank into an approved fuel container. Make sure the check valve on the gas cap is clean and opened. The check valve is on the underside of the cap, and there should be a small vent hole for exhaust.
- 2). Check the inside of the gas tank and make sure there is no dirt, grass or other debris clogging the fuel filter, which is at the bottom of the tank. If the filter is old, replace it as well as the fuel line.
- 3). Mix the proper amount of gas and oil in a separate fuel container. Two-cylinder engines take a gas-oil mix of about 40-to-1. Use regular unleaded fuel and a two-cycle oil.
- 4). Fill the gas tank and replace the cap. Set the choke lever to the third or most-open position. Pump the primer bulb 10 times. The primer bulb is located near the choke and helps get gas to the carburetor. Pull on the starter cord until you hear the engine turn over, which usually sounds like a light pop from the brief ignition.
- 5). Move the choke lever to the half-open position. Pump the primer bulb twice more and pull on the starter cord until the engine fires up. If it doesn't die instantly, move the choke lever to the closed position and let the engine run.
- 6). Set the choke lever to the closed position if the trimmer died on the previous start. Pull the starter cord until the engine kicks over. Let it warm up for a few minutes before you begin using it.
