How to Repair a CRC Data Check on a DVD
- 1). Purchase a DVD lens cleaner disc and use it according to the manufacturer's directions. A dirty DVD drive is a common cause of CRC errors.
- 2). Inspect the DVD you are using for scratches or other damage. Replace a damaged DVD and you may very well resolve the CRC issue.
- 3). Remove any paper labels from your DVD. These labels can often cause unbalanced or less than optimum disc speeds.
- 4). Replace a burned DVD with the original DVD. Burned copies of DVDs cause more CRC errors than originals.
- 5). Inspect the cables and connections on your DVD drive. If one of them has come loose, you may receive a CRC error.
- 6). Put a DVD that you know to be in good working order in your DVD drive. You should choose a DVD that you have used successfully in another computer recently. If you have tried all five steps above with no luck, and a good DVD still triggers a CRC error, than you may need to replace your DVD drive.
