Cat-Urine Problems
- Cats are normally clean animals, so urinating elsewhere is a sign of something wrong. It could be medical or emotional in nature.
- It's important to identify the cause of the behavior before you can address it properly. If it's a medical issue, kitty may strain to relieve himself and possibly have blood in his urine.
- If kitty's in apparent pain while trying to go, he may have a urinary-tract infection. A significant change in the normal routine, such as a new baby or move, may have upset him and he's showing his displeasure.
- A medical issue is easily treated by a veterinarian, so have kitty examined as soon as possible. If a recent change has kitty acting up, try to spend more time with him to show the pet that he's still needed and loved.
- Keep kitty supplied with fresh water and clean litter boxes to prevent urinary-tract infections. Introduce new changes slowly so kitty can get used to them without feeling threatened or scared.
