9
The English Riviera is an area that symbolises the typical British holiday.
Torbay is part of the Riviera with 22 miles of beaches that offer perfect days out on your holiday but there is much more to the area than just beaches.
Torbay has plenty of accommodation to stay in from Hotels to caravan parks.
A holiday park in Devon can be a perfect base to enjoy your trip.
There is nothing better than enjoying your holiday afternoon in the sun while the barbecue cooks your dinner.
If you have children to keep busy then there is plenty for them to do.
There is Paignton Zoo which has a whole plethora of animals including lions, a tiger and a rhino.
There is also a water based theme park called Quaywest.
This offers a great family day out with things to do such as ride the raging rapids or if you are really brave you can conquer the 65ft devils drop! There are also toddler pools for the smallest of children.
Another place to visit is the nearby Kent's Cavern.
These prehistoric caves are recognised as the most important Stone Age caves in England, having revealed more about Palaeolithic Britain than anywhere else.
There are tours to show you the wonders of the 2 million year old caves.
If you want something to do on a slightly smaller scale you could visit the Babbacombe model village where you can see many England scenes recreated in miniature.
The village offers a great day out with plenty to see and do for all of the family.
If you want to make the most of the coast you can enjoy plenty of water activities such as kayaking, water skiing, kite surfing or wind surfing.
There are also plenty of spots for sea fishing.
There are plenty of beaches in the area to visit, you could easily visit a different one each day of your holiday if you wanted to.
Some of the beaches you might want to check out are Paignton sands; this also has a pier and a funfair.
Broadsands beach is another sandy beach perfect for a day out complete with rock pools to keep the children busy.
This beach is also a good starting point for many coastal walks.
Hollicombe beach is a slightly quieter beach worth a visit perfect for an afternoon sunbathing.
There is so much to do in Torbay that you just could have fun for weeks, much more than you could fit into one holiday!
