CMA Music Fest Ends on High Note

Hank Williams Jr. brought the 2004 CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair® to a rocking finish Sunday night at The Coliseum with a stomping version of ?Family Tradition? featuring a few of his rowdy friends including Pat Green, Poison?s Bret Michaels, Montgomery Gentry, Michelle Poe and Darryl Worley.

Paul Brandt: Host of CCMA Awards

The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) has announced that international singer/songwriter/performer Paul Brandt will host the 2004 CCMA Awards telecast. CBC will broadcast the CCMA Awards, live from Edmonton's Rexall Place, on Monday, September 13th at 8 p.m.

This marks the 5th time that Brandt will host Canada's annual achievements in Canadian country music. George Canyon signs to Universal South

George Canyon has signed a recording contract with Universal South Records. A native of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canyon placed second on the USA Network/CMT Canada television show Nashville Star on May 1st, and expects to release his first Universal South album this fall. "George is a solid traditional country singer whose voice is admired by so many, even before he's recorded this album," said Tim DuBois, Senior Partner, Universal South. Dierks Bentley drops by CMT's Top Twenty Countdown on June 17 at 6 p.m. ET to introduce the world premiere of his video, "How Am I Doin'?" Bentley and host Lance Smith filmed the show at the Nashville Humane Association, along with Jake, the pound puppy Dierks adopted a few years ago. He co-starred in Dierks' first video, "What Was I Thinkin'?," earning a Flameworthy nomination for Best Cameo Appearance.

Martina McBride Auction Raises Over $130,000

Saturday?s YW Celebrity Auction with Martina McBride earned a grand total of $132,500 shattering last year?s record tally of $86,000. The event took place in downtown Nashville during the CMA Music Festival on June 12. Proceeds from the auction will go to help the YW of Middle Tennessee?s domestic violence shelter and its programs.
