How To Get The Best Deal At The Dentist

Did you know that you can actually negotiate how much you pay your dentist? It's true.
There's an old saying in the sales industry, "Everything is negotiable," and that's just as true at your dentist office as anywhere else.
That said, I would seriously recommend staying away from any dentist who offers prices that undercut his or her competitors by a very large margin, especially if they do so on a consistent basis.
While a "Low introductory offer" to get you in the door the first time is okay, constant rock-bottom prices can mean that the dentist is cutting some serious corners - and you don't want that! (I'm not suggesting that all discount dentists take shortcuts; but if your gut says that something's wrong, listen to it.
) Now that I've got that out of the way, let's get to the savings! Low Income Assistance.
Not everybody qualifies, and not every dentist offers it, but if you explain that you don't make enough money to pay typical dental fees, they might bring the price down to something more manageable.
Remember, these guys are dentists first, businessmen second.
Their primary goal is to provide care, and in many situations, that goal will over rule their business goal of making a profit.
Ask For Generic Products.
Dental products are like medicines, there's the expensive brand names and the inexpensive generic versions.
Ask your dentists about using low cost fillers, pastes and other products.
Introductory Offers.
I touched on these a little already, but many dentists will offer a very low cost to brand new patients.
It's there way of getting you in the door; and their plan is that you'll like the place so much that you'll come back over and over again for future dental work - and pay the normal prices when doing so.
Why not compile a list of dentists that offer this special price in your city and literally go to a different one every time you need work? Simply Ask For A Lower Rate.
It seems so simple, but there aren't many people who are willing to haggle for the sake of haggling.
Think of a street vendor in a third world country and don't take the original price, regardless of what it is.
You'd be surprised at how often this works, even with professional service providers like dentists.
When faced with the option of making less money versus making no money, many will concede with a littler perseverance.
