Rezoom Vs. Restor

2

    Procedure

    • ReZoom and ReSTOR procedures are both done as an outpatient procedure in something similar to cataract surgery. In both cases, the eye is numbed (you will be completely awake but in no pain) and a tiny incision is made next to the cornea. A small instrument is inserted into this incision and is used to break apart the lens. Once it is gone, a new lens (ReZoom or ReSTOR lens, depending on your choice) will be placed.

    Candidates

    • Many of the same conditions decide whether you are a candidate for lens replacement surgery with either the ReSTOR or the ReZoom lenses. There are however some slight differences. For example, the ReSTOR brand does not recommend the surgery with their technology if you need to drive at night. ReZoom, however, encourages you to see if you are a candidate if you have difficulty driving at night. These types of things can make a difference in your brand choice.

    Time Frame

    • As with the procedure itself, there is little difference in the time frame of both the procedure and recovery. Both brands boast a procedure can be completed in 15 to 45 minutes as an out-patient visit. Similarly, both brands report almost immediate eye recovery and vision improvement. With both brands, vision can even improve over time after the surgery.

    Benefits

    • The benefit of either lens is simply amazing. To be able to throw away those reading, driving, playing, just functioning eyeglasses and never need them again is quite a promise to make. As far as the ReZoom and ReSTOR lenses go, however, the only major difference is that ReSTOR claims to be able to fix vision at an accurate rate at any distance needed. While ReZoom does that too, they do not boast the range ReSTOR does. They do, however, claim to help people drive well in many intensities of light, including high noon, midnight and anywhere in between.

    Expert Insight

    • Your eye doctor can give you the information you need on both the ReSTOR, ReZoom and possibly other types of lens replacement surgery lenses. It is extremely important to talk with and be honest with your eye doctor when discussing the possibility of lens replacement surgery. The smallest difference in your symptoms compared to another's can shift the balance toward one brand over another. Your doctor will be able to help you more accurately decide which to get as well as the benefits, risks and other vital information about the surgery itself.
