Instructions for Making a Magic Flip Wallet

11
    • 1). With your ruler, measure out one piece of colored construction paper that is 36 cm in length and 18 cm in width. Mark the 36 cm and 18 cm with your pencil. Cut the piece out with your scissors. Then cut your 36 cm by 18 cm piece in half with your scissors to form two, 18 cm by 9 cm large rectangles.

    • 2). Measure four pieces with identical 14 cm lengths and 1.2 cm widths from the second piece of your colored construction paper with your ruler. Mark the 14 cm lengths and 1.2 cm widths for each piece with your pencil. Cut each strip out with your scissors.

    • 3). Measure one piece with an 11 cm length and 7 cm width from the third piece of your colored construction paper. Mark the 11 cm length and 7 cm width with your pencil. Cut the small rectangle out with your scissors.

    • 4). Lay out your large rectangles side by side. Slide one of your strips about 1.5 cm below the top of your left large rectangle. Then slide your strip underneath your right large rectangle until its end sticks out. Slide another strip about 1.5 cm above the bottom of your left large rectangle. Then slide your second strip underneath your right large rectangle until its end sticks out. Make sure your strips lie on top of your left large rectangle and stick out underneath your right large rectangle equally when finished. For example, if your strips have 4 cm lying on top of your left large rectangle, they should have 4 cm sticking out from underneath your right large rectangle.

    • 5). Use your glue stick to glue down your strips on top of your right large rectangle. Fold over your strips and glue them down to your left large rectangle.

    • 6). Make an X-cross with your two remaining strips. Glue the center where your two strips cross with your glue stick. Slide your X-cross underneath your right large rectangle until its two right ends lie on top of your left large rectangle. Put your left rectangle down on top of your X-cross. Unfold your X-cross's two right ends and glue their bottoms with your glue stick. Attach the glued ends back to your right rectangle. Glue down your X-cross's two left ends with your glue stick. Fold them over to attach to your left large rectangle. You now have a magic flip wallet.

    • 7). Flip your magic flip wallet over gently. Two strips should appear on its left side, and your X-cross should be on its right side. Place a thin item, like a dollar bill, on the left side. Close the right side over the left side. Open your wallet to reveal your dollar bill in your X-cross.
