How to Find Out the Number of Acres of One's Property
- 1). Find your property parcel identification number and have the address ready. You can find the parcel number on your property tax bill and in the original paperwork you received when you bought the property.
- 2). Contact the County Assessor's office for the county in which the property is located. Many counties have the information you need online. For other counties, you may have to call. Find your county's contact information at the county's main website.
- 3). Enter the information required on the page of the county's website that gives information on properties or parcels. Some counties call this application the Parcel Viewer. If you are contacting the County Assessor's office by phone, simply relay the needed information to the clerk.
- 4). Review the parcel information you receive. Within the data will be the square footage or acreage of the property. Use a conversion calculator online or do the math yourself. One acre is about 43,560 square feet.
