Drugs Don"t Support Health
Over the years, I have seen a dramatic increase in the advertising and use of medications.
Various advertisements by Big Pharma, encourage people to ask their doctor if a medication is right for them.
These medications are generally new to the market and the industry is attempting to increase sales through advertising.
We are however left in the dark as to how much research has been performed on the drug.
The drug companies are fast tracking drugs through research and development, to get them available for sale to the public.
This is providing the right conditions for mistakes to be made.
It makes me think back to the Thalydimide babies.
It was the "wonder drug" to stop morning sickness in pregnant moms.
It was recommended by doctors, whose opinion we value and trust, so we didn't think that there were any consequences to consider.
The unfortunate truth of the matter was that doctors didn't know the consequences either.
There hadn't been enough testing performed to properly evaluate the longterm impact that the drug would have on the pregnancy and fetus When a new drug enters the market, the advertising begins.
Now because the drug industry must show due diligence with the public, the ad goes on to list the bevy of side effects that are possible by taking the drug.
The list is generally so expansive that it negates any good that the drug could possibly have for the prescribed condition.
I don't understand how people can hear the side effects and still be willing to speak to their doctor.
A recent and quite tragic example of the lack of drug testing, is the HPV vaccine that we were told our girls needed to have.
Many young women suffered serious and some deadly consequences having been given the drug.
We have become a society that expects all our ills to be cured by medications.
I'm sure that if we went into the average home, you would find a cupboard or cupboards filled with various medications for back pain, headaches, coughs, sinus congestion, colds and on.
Is there a better way? The problem is that we are all looking for the quick fix.
We want something that will alleviate all our physical problems so we don't have to slow down our busy lives.
We end up taking medication to treat the uncomfortable symptoms.
However, because we are only treating the symptoms, the main cause of the problem is not being addressed.
Until such point that we cater to the underlying problem, another symptom will just take it's place.
Unfortunately, the money is not made in trying to remedy the underlying problem.
Profit is made by focusing on the reoccurring symptoms.
Big pharma companies are willing to take a chance on your health for a profit.
It is my opinion that good health does not come from a bottle of pills.
Good health begins with, the water we drink, the food that we eat, the exercise we get and how we support our body with supplements, minerals and herbs.
First let's talk about the water that we drink.
We need.
5 oz of water for every pound of body weight.
Our bodies can be dehydrated without us feeling the thirst.
It is the water around the cells in our body that diminishes initially.
It is a quiet dehydration, meaning we don't feel the symptoms.
We can also drink water, feel re-hydrated, and still not have sufficient water for our body.
When tested, most people show as being dehydrated.
Measure out the water that you should be drinking every day.
You will find that the more you drink, the more you crave it.
Second, the food that we eat is what keeps our bodies running.
It's like putting gas in your car.
The better the fuel, the better all the parts are able to run and work together.
We should be consuming at least 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, 6-8 servings of grains and 2-3 servings of both milk and alternates and and meats.
With our society being so busy, we have become dependent on fast food which serves as no value to our body.
I'm not just speaking about fast food restaurants.
I am also speaking to our love affair with prepackaged foods containing high levels of saturated fats, sodium and sugar.
They are quick, but again, are of no value to our body.
Good health requires the right fuel.
Third is exercise.
We are told that we should be getting at least an hour of exercise a day to keep us healthy.
I know that people are much more conscious of making time for the gym every day than ever before.
That is a really good step in the right direction.
The increased oxygen helps to regenerate our body and increase the release of serotonin in the brain.
The critical issue is how sedentary our children have become.
All of the gaming systems have children sitting in front of a screen most of the time.
We no longer force our children outside to play, and in many cases, the children have no idea what to play.
We forgot to teach our children the games we used to play as kids.
Getting them active is important.
The body is designed by nature to heal itself.
However, we are all born with certain weaknesses in our bodies.
It could be that our bones are brittle so they are easily broken or we tend to have high cholesterol, maybe our blood pressure is high, or a myriad of other issues.
There are many genetic factors that play a role in how our bodies function.
That's were supplements, minerals, herbs, and homeopathic remedies play an important role.
You can build up any body system, organ, and tissues by using the correct herbs.
You might say that it is swapping out one pill for another.
That might be true, however there are no side effects of herbal remedies that are going to kill you.
It is a type of medicine that has been around for centuries.
Some of our medications were developed using herbs as one of the active ingredients, until a way is found to synthetically manufacture the medication.
St.
John's Wort is known as a remedy for depression.
Years ago, St.
John's Wort was one of the active ingredients in pharmaceutical anti-depressants.
There are herbs that can work on every part of the body to build, strengthen and support it.
You can use herbs for symptomatic relief but again, you are not treating the underlying cause of the problem.
Through many different methods of diagnosis, it is possible to find the part of the body that needs support, and identify the herb(s) needed to support it.
The only problem with herbal medicine is it takes time.
It took your body many years to weaken to the point where you are experiencing symptoms.
It will therefore, take your body some time to heal.
However in the end, you will come through it healthier and probably feeling better than you have in a long time.
Every single recommendation I have listed here, is a natural cure for the body.
Just drinking more water can sometimes take away a headache caused by dehydration.
Eating the proper food will give the body nourishment to improve your skin, your hair, brittle nails and more.
Exercise will increase blood flow and lymph drainage, which increases the body's exchange of nutrients and waste, keeping the cells healthier.
When you support the body in this fashion, you will find that your need for symptomatic relief will diminish exponentially, leading to a much more satisfying life.
So next time you think about taking that sinus medication, or Ibprophen for a headache, stop yourself for a minute and think about how you've eaten, how much water you've had, or whether or not you've exercised enough.
Also look into which herbs your body may be needing instead.
You can use the herbs that provide symptomic relief, while you build and cleanse your body so it can heal itself.
