Levellor Blinds Instructions

    Installing Blinds

    • Installing Levolor blinds is moderately easy and should take only about 15 minutes. First, insert respective endcaps into the ends of the headrail and bottomrail. Next, mount the brackets that come with the blinds by pre-drilling holes if necessary and using the included screws. Make sure to install brackets evenly across the width of the headrail, avoiding working components, noting that the brackets must be at least 1/2 inch from either end. Attach the headrail to the bracket by placing the lip of the headrail over the hooks on the front of the bracket. You'll need to pivot the headrail up and back until the lower lip of the headrail snaps securely into the bracket.

    Raising and Lowering Blinds

    • Keep slats tilted to a 45 degree angle while raising or lowering your blinds, then pull the cord to the left and gently raise or lower the blind to the desired position. To align the cords immediately after installation, tilt the blinds open and raise and lower them several times. Note that the cords will become more pliable after repeated use, resulting in easier operation. To lock the blinds into place, pull the cord to the right. An automatic locking device will take effect if the cord moves suddenly and prevent it from falling down full length and causing injury. To tilt the slats, insert the opening on the tilt wand into the respective hook on the left side of the headrail and turn the wand so the slats tilt to the desired angle. Wood blinds may not close perfectly, which is inherent of all wood blinds, and blinds with cloth tapes won't close as tightly as those with standard route holes.

    Maintaining Your Blinds

    • You should dust your vinyl, wood and aluminum blinds regularly using a soft clean cloth, chemically treated dust cloth, dusting mitt or vacuum cleaner with brush attachment. While dusting, lower blind to its full length, then tilt the slats almost fully closed. Reverse the side of the slats and repeat. To wash your vinyl blinds (not recommended for aluminum or wood), use a cloth, sponge, or soft brush and a mild detergent with warm water, NOT hot, and wash the blind in sections. If you have a small blind, you can wash it in a sink or tub, being careful not to submerge the headrail. If desired, you can gently hose the blind off outdoors. With either method, make sure to rinse off all suds thoroughly, remove the endcaps, and tilt the blinds so the head and bottom rails will drain. To avoid water marks, you should dry your blinds with a towel, keeping the cord taut while drying to minimize kinks and shrinkage.

    Warnings

    • Never tie blind cords together. Always keep blind cords out of children's reach using a cleat, clamp or clothes pin and make sure you keep cribs and playpens away from blinds. To avoid free, dangling cords, affix a cord pulley or hold down device to the wall, and then secure the cord tightly through the cord pulley. You can eliminate looped pull cords by cutting the ends and replacing them with cord tassels. If child safety is a major concern for you, consider Levolor's line of cordless blinds and shades which are safer for children and pets, reducing the risk of strangulation. With all blinds, be sure to remove any objects below windows that might get in the way when the blinds are lowered, potentially damaging them.
