The living room in your home is where you likely spend a lot of time. It's often the hub of the home, especially if you watch television and entertain in your living room. If you are looking to update the decor, you can do it quite easily without spending too much time and effort. This will make a big impact. - If you have a fireplace in your living room, consider decorating the mantel. The way you decorate the mantel depends on the other decor in your home. One idea that works in most types of decor, especially contemporary decor, is to prop or hang a large mirror on or above the fireplace mantel. The mirror should be quite large and tall. The width should match the width of the fireplace if possible.
- Create a living room that is reminiscent of the sea by including beach-inspired accessories and decor. A lovely idea is a mirror with a frame decorated entirely with seashells. Keep the room light, in general. Use colors that look like sand and shells. Display seashells in glass containers throughout the room. You can even create displays of shells with tea light candles in the middle.
- Use paint to create a bold accent wall. This is an easy way to create a dramatic impact. Tailor the color to accent the tones and colors used in your living room. If your room is warm-toned, use a bold orange or yellow for the accent wall. If you use cool-toned colors, stick to a bright teal or green color.
- Use your creative skills to create an easy and budget-friendly centerpiece for a living room table or shelf. Pick or purchase wild flowers or sunflowers. Use four or five old glass bottles from an antique store or flea market. Place the bottles in an antique tool caddy.
