• In 2006 Swedish automaker Saab introduced its new wagon version of the 9-3 sedan, called the 9-3 Sportcombi. The wagon features a similar design and dimensions as the 9-3 sedan, but with an enlarged cargo area in the back with lift gate access. The Sportcombi comes in either the base 2.0T trim level or the high performance Aero trim level.
  
  

Suspension and Transmission

• Aside from the wagon's 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine, the Saab 9-3 Sportcombi comes with a number of performance-enhancing features. The car's front suspension rides on MacPherson struts, giving each of the car's front-drive wheels its own independent suspension. The car's suspension receives help from stabilizing bars installed in the front and rear of the car, keeping the suspension stiff during high force cornering. The car has disc brakes on all four wheels, with vented discs on the front wheels for improved stopping power. The Sportcombi uses electronic brake force distribution, which measures the amount of braking power each brake disc needs. A five-speed automatic transmission comes as an optional feature, allowing the driver to manually shift the car's gears when desired.
  
  

Cockpit

• Saab loads the Sportcombi with a number of features in the car's cockpit. The front seats and the rear bench come wrapped in leather as a standard feature. The driver's seat is fully adjustable. Keeping the rear passengers' comfort in mind, the wagon has air vents in the second row so back seat passengers do not have to wait for hot or cold air to filter from the front of the car. The rear passengers also enjoy headrests as do the front passengers, which they can adjust depending on their height. The car has a drink cooler, which in hotter weather keeps any liquids placed inside the box cool.
  
  

Safety

• The 9-3 Sportcombi comes with safety features common in many other vehicles, such as child door locks, power locks, keyless entry and an anti-theft system. The wagon also comes with a number of airbags, including both driver and front passenger airbags and side curtain airbags for all four doors. The car also comes with daytime running lights as well as two rear fog lights.
