Tinnitus - Essential Oils Could Be The Answer To Your Prayers?

31
Tinnitus and essential oils - could one solve the other? That is the question on the lips of some sufferers.
In this article, I will tell you more about this treatment and how it works.
I will ask whether it is effective and worth trying.
Finally, I will tell you where it stacks up against all the other tinnitus treatments out there.
Essential Oils For Tinnitus - How Does That Work? Essential oils are basically plant-derived oils that give off a unique (volatile) aroma.
Whilst they smell great, many people claim that they have powerful medicinal properties.
Whilst some oils do have specific effects (e.
g.
some are diuretics), for the most part there are no discernible, proven medical effects on the human body.
Some aromatherapists will prescribe various essential oils and you will commonly hear about juniper, cypress, lavender, lemon, rose and others being advised.
However, I have never once seen an explanation for if or how they might work.
The only guess I could make is that some could help to promote circulation and this is almost always beneficial when it comes to tinnitus.
Indeed, I have read about this at least once from an author who advised to put a few drops in the ear.
Is It Effective? I have never seen a wide ranging clinical trial on the effects of essential oils for tinnitus.
All that you will find are anecdotal reports and other, older historical accounts.
One would have to conclude that there is no solid evidence that it is effective.
However, this does not necessarily mean that they do not work.
Because some people report that they do, they are worth a try.
It is worth mention that some people feel there is only upside risk and no downside risk.
Essential oils may be natural but this does not mean that they are 100% safe.
For example, pregnant women are advised not to use them and oils may contain pesticide residues from the original plants.
How Does It Compare To Other Treatments? Despite there being no proof that essential oils work, I still recommend that you give them a try.
Other natural approaches are similar in the sense that you do not know if something will work for you until you try it.
That said, the best natural approach is not one where you try many new things.
The best such approach is to eliminate those things in your life that could be co-factors for tinnitus.
For example, if you reduce the amount of salicylates in your diet then this could be enough to reduce the symptoms of your tinnitus, even to nothing.
Without trying, you will never know.
