How to Clean Upholstery and Maintain Your Furniture"s Life

3
Many people enjoy having beautiful furniture.
Many people also love the lavish sensations and comfort furniture brings to them and their families.
Whatever the reason we have for loving our furniture, our home furniture is one of two essential aspects that give our home a life of its own.
If our furniture is not properly taken care of it will become worn down, age faster, lose its comfort, and will lose its visual appeal.
If it is your goal to prevent these things from happening then proper furniture care is a must.
Here are a few tips for cleaner furniture and upkeep.
Upholstery care and maintenance should always be a priority when going about routine house cleaning.
For many years my furniture sat, neglected, with little to no attention and it really showed in its appearance.
My gorgeous and comfortable furniture over the years became a visual wreck and lost close to all of its desirability actually pushing me away from wanting to relax on it.
It was through this experience that I began to take proper care of my upholstery and house hold furniture.
Putting in the initial time and effort in order to maintain my furniture I have been able to avoid most problems with upkeep through the consistent use of simple cleaning methods.
The first thing I do to help ensure the extended life span of my home furniture is to take the vacuum and clean out all the little pockets, nooks, creases and cracks where food, dirt, and other items like to hide.
If you or your family likes to eat at the couch like mine does, this will not be an uncommon finding.
This step will help to ensure the cleanliness of your household furniture.
An interesting little fact I learned about that I was not aware of before, regarding upholstery and cushion care, is that flipping over the cushions to your couches or love seats helps to ensure a balanced use of the upholstery and cushion and cuts down on the wear and tear through consistent use.
I've noticed a significant difference in comfortably to my own furniture and a significant decrease in my cushions beginning to mold their own shapes due to constant wear and use by doing this on a semi-regular basis.
Another important aspect that I've come to learn about Upholstery and Furniture care is to make sure the furniture is not in a place of the house that receives direct sunlight.
Direct sunlight actually damages furniture by fading and frying the upholstery fibers.
This can cause discolorations to the furniture making it apparent there is damage and decreasing its visual appeal.
I've also learned through furniture upkeep that fumes and smoke from cooking can have a huge impact on your furniture's well being.
Fumes tend to embed themselves within the upholstery fibers adding unwanted smells to the furniture itself.
To avoid this it's important to pay attention to, and use proper ventilation in order to achieve maximum furniture care and upkeep.
When it comes to upholstery care it's important to know how to properly remove stains when they happen.
Many people might think in order to remove stains it's best to scrub the stain out of the fabric; this is not true! Scrubbing out stains will actually increase the damage done by the initial stain itself and will spread throughout the fabric making your stain much worse.
One method that I found that works for me and that I recommend is to blot out the stain with a paper towel or a clean rag.
Next take a spot cleaner of your choice, specifically designed for upholstery stain removal and apply to the stained area, then blot with a paper towel or rag.
Following this up with circular passes with a gentle brush and then drying the stain out with the vacuum to ensure maximum results works very well.
Upholstery care is important if you want to keep your furniture looking new and to retain its comfortability.
It will also ensure a long lasting life for your furniture, saving you the money of having to buy new ones when the old ones wear down.
Upholstery care can be done by anyone and just takes the initial time and effort required in order to maintain its life-span.
It also may be a good idea to hire an occasional professional upholstery and furniture cleaner to ensure maximum results.
In short, following these few practical steps to ensure the life of your upholstery and furniture in the long run, will keep your furniture looking brand new for many years to come.
