Plant Health Care
- The basic start to a PHC system is categorizing your plants and the types of care involved. By accurately identifying your plants, you acquire the knowledge of the proper care procedures for each plant. This also determines the frequency of fertilizing, watering and pruning.
- After the plants have been categorized, it is important to determine the types of insects and pests that plague your plants. Identifying the potential insect and pest infestations allows for the use of proper pesticides. The goal is a healthy plant, so selecting the appropriate pesticide is necessary to attain that end.
- Weather conditions such as temperature, humidity and sunlight are other factors important to plant health. Dissimilar types of plants react differently to weather conditions and soil factors. Check for signs of plant stress such as wilting or yellowing leaves and dead branches. This will alert you to whether the problems stem from pests and insects or the ecosystem.
