Impact Position in the Golf Swing

Downswing review The hands are leading the clubhead down towards impact.
Here is the key to the downswing: 1.
Maintaining the positions we set up during the backswing.
2.
Unleashing them at the right time as we unwind around our left knee.
Let me elaborate: If you get to the top of the backswing, then turn your hips back towards the target without doing anything with your hands, you will be in the correct position to hit from the inside out.
Your hands will still be cupped a bit at this point.
Confusion about the downswing Here is where most people get lost: 1.
When starting down, your right leg is still turned and locked into the ground.
Your weight does not stay right, but the right foot is still locked in clockwise.
2.
Although you are moving your weight left and you want to get your weight as far to the left as possible, your left foot stays locked in to the ground as well (clockwise), providing a post for your downswing to pivot around.
If the weight got too far left, you're toast.
At impact, my weight is still on the inner part of my left leg.
Sequence of events from backswing 1.
While the club is still moving back on the backswing, you are beginning to move left.
Your right foot is still screwed in though.
2.
The hip turn happens after this initial weight shift and happens on a horizontal plane (parallel with the ground) as far as you can take them back towards the target.
3.
The hands get a free ride down to the hip area.
The hands are still cupped a bit, adding power via a lag.
4.
Your hands go from cupped to bowed as the back part of your left hand leads into impact.
5.
Centrifugal forces unwind the club and the club hits down onto the ball (Ball first, then earth).
6.
The bottom of the swing occurs 2-4 inches ahead of the ball.
The feel of impact To help create the impact position, practice studying the feelings of it, described below: In your active, alive address position, with the club behind the ball, press your hands forward so that your left wrist is flat, not slightly cupped like at address.
The hands should be in front of the left leg.
The left elbow pocket now faces your left hip bone, and both of your arms are in front of your body and "knit together" as described in earlier posts.
The right arm is slightly bent, while the left arm is straight.
The right arm does not straighten until after impact.
Your right knee will be a few inches closer to the ball (it moves towards the ball) while the left knee will be similar to the way it was at address.
A major mistake to make at this point is to have the left leg straight.
It straightens eventually, but that is later during the through-swing.
Your hips will be slightly open at impact, while your shoulders will be square to slightly open.
Your hips, however, should certainly be leading the shoulders, causing a chain effect.
Take some time to go over everything in this post.
I know it is a lot, but the club hits down on the ball, causing it to rise.
When you try to scoop the ball, bad shots can occur.
For every club in the bag, the hands are leading into impact.
Even with the driver.
