It possibly can disturb your budget but if you are fond of buying expensive decoration items, it is not a big deal. But if something wrong happens to your expensive rug, it is obviously upsetting. There are various online companies which provide home service for cleaning carpets and rugs. You can also take them to laundry but they don't give any warranty for color or fiber damage. First tip to keep your antique rugs neat is to use a vacuum cleaner of and on. Vacuuming makes rugs look neat and soft. Usually people use vacuum only on at the front side of rug which is not recommended specially for expensive rugs. When there is wall-to-wall carpeting, it is obvious that you have to vacuum the surface only. But if you have small carpets or rugs, make sure to vacuum both sides of them. Vacuuming at both sides will suck almost 90% of dirt and your rug will look like brand new. Moreover vacuuming like this will keep the fiber soft and strong.

Secondly, if your beautiful silk rug gets blotted, make sure to remove the blot instantly. Don't leave it for a while or it will be locked in the rug's fiber and you can never get it cleaned again. When using a rug shampoo to clean the blot, firstly make sure that your rug's color is not fading. Secondly, rinse the rug soap or shampoo completely because if it remains in the fiber, it will suck dirt rapidly. If the blot is deep, put some rug shampoo on a woolen cloth and rub it on the blot directly. After blot removing treatment, rug needs to be dried out quickly. You can choose to spread it in a warm room or hang it in front of a fan.

If you are sick of pet odor absorbed in your carpet, use vinegar (1 part) mixed with water (3 parts) to wipe your rug. It will neutralize pet odor effectively. If your antique rug is sun safe, it is healthy to spread it under sun for 2-3 hours over a neat floor. It will kill bacteria and prevent germs growth in your rug's fiber. Keep one important thing in your mind if you want to make your rugs look neat for years, never fold them. Roll them instead of folding if you have to take them out for shifting. If you follow the given tips, it will make your rugs neat and soft for long.
